Arnetha "Nita" Wiggs was born in Valdosta, Georgia and accepted Christ at a young age. Her faith has continued to grow in the knowledge of "who she is and whose she is" in Christ Jesus. Upon graduation from Valdosta State University with a bachelor’s degree in Speech Communications, Nita was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force and served faithfully for 10 and 1/2 years achieving the rank of Captain.
Nita served in numerous roles during her various assignments. At Grand Forks AFB, ND she was the Administrative and Communication Postal Branch Chief for the 321st Combat Support Group. After completion of SOS, Nita returned to the Pope AFB as the Squadron Section Commander for the 317th Field Maintenance Squadron. After serving for 2 years in that position, Captain Wiggs was competitively selected for the Air Force’s coveted Education With Industry Program at Lockheed Aeronautical Systems Company located in Marietta Ga, for a school term in 1989.
At Lockheed, Nita excelled and quickly learned the defense private industry acquisition’s approach to research and development contracting. She was instrumental in acquiring C-130 aircraft programs and budgetary pricing for C-130 J models. This position provided a springboard/indoctrination into the Air Force’s Contracting Program.
In 1990, Nita was reassigned to Hanscom AFB, MA as a Lead Contract Negotiator/Contracts Manager for the MILSTAR Systems Program Office, (SPO) and remained until leaving the Air Force in October 1992. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority and active in the Decatur Alumnae Chapter.
Her travels journeyed across the world where she gained a greater insight of Christianity and it's correlation to "a call to serve" both God and her country. Throughout her numerous assignments, Nita has taught Sunday School in the Lutheran Church in North Dakota, has led Singles' Groups in Germany, has sung in every choir at each assigned location, and has ministered through the art of speech and drama. After leaving the Air Force, Nita and her daughter, Jillian moved to the metropolitan Atlanta area, in October 1992. Nita and Jill joined Greenforest Community Baptist Church in November 1992.
