Kevin Ashe
Kevin Ashe served as an Artilleryman in the U.S. Army and Georgia National guard for 21 and a half years. During this service he had 5 overseas tours that included West Germany, Iraq and Afghanistan. He was also activated into federal service during the COVID pandemic.
Kevin Ashe enlisted in 1986 right out of high school. Kevin went to basic training and Advanced individual training at Fort Sill Oklahoma where he graduated as an Artillery Surveyor. After training Kevin was assigned to Charlie Battery 3rd Battalion 32nd Field artillery in Wiesbaden, West Germany where he served as a battery survey team member and eventually PADS (Position and Azimuth Determining System) Survey Chief. Kevin was honorably discharged from active duty in July of 1989 at the rank of corporal.
After the tragedy of September 11th 2001 Kevin Ashe reenlisted into the Georgia Army National Guard where he was assigned to HHB 1st Battalion 214th Field Artillery. In 2006 Kevin was deployed to Iraq with Service Battery 1st 214 FA as a Team Chief for a Quick Reactionary Force on Camp Cedar II for 12 months. In 2013 the 214th FA Battalion deployed to combat operations in Afghanistan where Kevin served as Force Protection NCO for Shindand Air Base. While in the 1-214th FA Kevin served as a Survey Crew member, PADS Chief, Battalion Survey Chief and Battalion Fires NCO.
From 2016 to 2018 Kevin Ashe was assigned to 560th Battlefield Coordination Detachment where he served as Chief Operations NCO.
In 2018 Kevin Ashe was promoted to Master Sergeant and assigned as Brigade Fires NCO for 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. In 2019 the 48th IBCT deployed to combat operations in Eastern Afghanistan where Kevin advised the Brigade commander and the Tact East commander on indirect fire operations.
After the 2019 Afghanistan deployment Kevin Ashe was selected to the position of First Sergeant for HHB 1st 118th Field Artillery Regiment. While Kevin was 1SG of Headquarters Battery the 1st 118th FA was called into federal service in 2020 for COVID pandemic operations.
First Sergeant Kevin Ashe retired after 21 and a half years of service in November 2021. His awards include The Honorable Order of St. Barbera, a Meritorious Service Medal, five Overseas Service Medals, Iraq and Afghanistan Service Medals.
Kevin Ashe joined AMVETS in 2016 and currently serves as 1st Vice Commander of Post 10, President of Department of Georgia AMVETS Riders and National Guard Representative for AMVETS Department of Georgia.
