Wendell S. Rivens
Master Sergeant Wendell Scott Rivens served twenty-one years in the U.S. Air Force. He was an air traffic controller for nineteen years and two years as the squadron resource advisor (budget and finance officer).
He joined the military to pursue a college degree and to travel. While in the military, he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Airway Science.
Listed are the bases that he was stationed at during his active-duty period.
Bases: Myrtle Beach S.C.; Thule Greenland; Laughlin AFB, Texas; Osan AB, Korea; Tyndall AFB, Florida; Moody AFB, Georgia; Kunsan AB Korea; Ramstein AB, Germany; Shemya AB, Alaska; Moody AFB, Georgia.
He also did temporary duty at Houston International Airport, Granada, Quonset Point, Rhode Island; and during Desert Shield in Saudi Arabia.
In 1992, He joined the AMVETS. He became the post adjutant in 1994. He has also served in the positions of trustee, first vice, and commander on the post level. On the state level, he served as Department of Georgia Executive Director for 17 years. He has also served as State First Vice Commander and State Commander. He presently serves the veterans of AMVETS as the State Finance Officer.
